Week 38.2: Zig Zag

Recently, I finally finished a sweater I started knitting about 9 years ago.  Not that it really was an incredibly difficult sweater, but rather I started it, knit the body up to the armhole division (you know, the part I could do without having any charts or patterns in front of me) and then set it aside, never to be heard from again.  I put a little work in on it here and there, and then finished everything but the collar on our road trip last summer, and just a few months ago I put in the collar and wove in all the ends.  DONE!

After all that time, I'm glad it's a fairly classic-looking sweater and it still goes well in my wardrobe!   The pattern is Zig Zag from the Fall 2004 issue of Knitty.  I originally bought some pretty white cotton/wool blend yarn for the pattern, but then I couldn't get gauge, so I bought a bunch of Knitpicks Wool of the Andes because, well, it's cheap!  I think I made a few modifications to the pattern, namely, knitting everything slightly longer than the pattern suggested.  I could've made the sleeves even longer than I did, but as it was I used up every last scrap of yarn that I'd purchased, so I suppose if I'd lengthened the sleeves I would have needed more.

White cabled sweater: Zig Zag, knit by me
Black tank top: American Eagle
Khaki skirt: Goodwill?
Tan shoes: Reflection

  1. Whoa! You knit that!? That is amazing! I am totally clueless when it comes to knitting.

I really love clean neutrals together. This is beautiful!

    1. Thank you! I started knitting pretty young, but this year I taught my fiancé to knit, so I assure you that you would be more than capable if you ever wanted to learn!
