Hello, hello! I should have posted this yesterday, but yesterday looked like this:
I know, I know, excuses... Today is the big exciting Doug recital day (eeks!) & I'm taking a few minutes out of my busy cake-making schedule to update the blog. Don't you feel loved? :)
Current Weight: 140 lbs
At Last Weigh-in: 139.6 lbs
Starting Weight: 144 lbs
Weight Loss to Date: 4 lbs
This weight loss thing is NOT going so hot. Ideally, even at a moderate pace I should be able to knock off 4lbs a month and be down to my goal weight by Christmas at the latest... even with all of the evil holiday food around. Unfortunately, I seem to be pretty solidly stuck at the 140 mark, or at least I have been for the last month or so. I've been having a hard time tracking my calorie consumption recently, and even though I'm aware that I need to be eating half of what Doug eats, it is still difficult to limit myself, especially when I feel hungry! I've also had a hard time getting myself to exercise regularly. I have to do my workouts in my apartment, which I can manage... but I really need to get myself doing cardio again regularly and I live on the second floor, which limits my indoor cardio hours. Oh, and the convenient nearby bike path? Closed for construction again.
Can anyone give me a push here? How do you stay motivated? Are any of you on MyFitnessPal to poke me into tracking my calories? Let me know in the comments... :/
Monday's outfit (now with crazy hair!)
Tuxedo Ruffled blouse: Goodwill
Yellow circle skirt: made by moi
Lucite & other bangles: Various
White Hair Floofle Comb: Icing
Best Beige Heels Ever: Reflection
Wednesday's outfit:
Blue Angora Sweater: 57th Street Antiques (and SO FUZZY)
Yellow Shirt: From my Grandma's house
Fruit Print Pencil Skirt: From FabGabs Vintage!
Beige Heels: Reflection (but you can get them in cinnamon-color from Modcloth!)
Yellow Hair Flower: Icing
Carved Bakelite Bangle & Earrings: Grandma's. (Although apparently she never wore them...)
OK. Must be getting back to my cake-ly duties! Not to mention nail painting and makeup-doing and hair-arranging... eep!

I really sympathize with your frustration. I was stuck at 140 too!! Don't you hate scales? They are scary!
ReplyDeleteI was on Livestrong, counting every calorie and busting my butt lifting weights and doing aerobics, running and bicycling and couldn't shift ANY lbs, like maybe 5lbs in six months. I could gain that back in a good weekend!
I am not any type of expert, other than I know what worked for me. For me, eating less and weight bearing exercises are key, squats, leg lifts, push ups etc. You build muscle tissue which burns fat like an engine.
This worked for me, but I know what worked for me won't work for everyone.
I use Paulin Nordin Butt Bible dvd levels one and two. She is hilarious and really motivates me. I have no more cellulite for the first time.
Drinking 2/3 cups of green tea per day helps with appetite and metabolism.
Frequent small meals. Small breakfast lunch and dinner and snacks. I eat half as much food at lunch, not the same as my husband anymore. . My stomach shrunk, so now I need less to feel full. I think, and this is important, if I am hungry in one hour then I can eat again.
Taking extra vitamin c (2000-3000) I have even heard up to 6000 mg per day to speed up your metabolism.
If I don't bring bad food home from the store, I won't eat it. There are so many yummy things that are healthy that I console myself with that. Nuts, fruit, grilled/smoked meat/fish etc.
I eat almost every meal at home. Eating out is HORRIBLE for dieting. The amount of extra butter chefs sneak on food is sickening sometimes. I mean, they don't care if it is too many calories, as long as it is delicious!
For me weight loss is done above the neck first. I have to get my head around it. If I think, no chocolate, all I want is chocolate! I allow some of those things as rewards sometimes, but they aren't forbidden, because that is trouble for me.
I hope this helps.
One thing I have been told by a wise woman, and I find it is true, if you are too thin, you look old before your time.
Just keep trying to do your best all the time and you can't do more than that!
Best of luck to you
wow, I guess I really wanted to help you!
: )
Thank you SO much for your huge reply, sorry for not responding earlier. I'm definitely not great at the whole self-control and strict diet following, which is my biggest weakness. Even when I'm eating healthy food, I want to eat a lot of it! Not so great for my weight loss process... Well, I'll keep trying and keep posting things on the blog so I stay accountable.
DeleteLove your outfits!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteYour clothes are always so adorable and awesome. :D
ReplyDeleteI've been struggling with weight and counting calories as well. If you want to add me on MyFitnessPal I'm ShadowByrd over there. As for motivation? Mostly I just force myself to.
And done! Thank you and thank you. I need to get better at just making myself do things instead of procrastinating forever.
DeleteOh how I adore both of these outfits - you are such a skirt and blouse/sweater gal, just like me. The pear and grape print on the second one is especially fantastic. I have a novelty print top from the late 50s/early 60s with sewing related items on it a very similar palette.

Thank you! When I'm trying to make the most out of a limited wardrobe, it sure helps. The top you're describing sounds absolutely charming.
